Questions and Answers

1. How long has Clean Rents been in business.?

We've been in business in Austin since 1997 and we've begun operations in Tarrant County to address the need in that market.

2. What is the minimum rental period at Clean Rents?

Unless otherwise noted in your rental agreement, the standard minimum is 5 months.

3. What if I have to have the washer and dryer picked up in less than 5 months?

We will bill you for the balance of your rental at the time of pickup. The Rental Agreement you sign is a contract and you are bound by that contract to pay 5 full months of rental payments.

4. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Mastercard and Visa credit cards and we process payments called ACH transactions, which is basically drafting your monthly payment directly from your checking or savings account each month. Both these methods are convenient and allow your monthly rental to be paid on time and avoids the hassle of mailing in a payment.

5. When do you process payments?

On credit cards, we process payments on the 3 rd of each month usually around 2:00 AM. It is an automated process.

On ACH transactions, we process payments on the 3 rd of the month unless the 3 rd falls on a weekend or holiday. In those cases we process the first day banks are open after the 3 rd .

6. Why don't you take checks?

We spent too much time chasing hot checks, so we stopped.

7. Will the machines be new?

No, not usually. From time to time we do have new machines, when our inventory of used machines is depleted, but you should not expect new machines. We are a rental company and our machines are rented, usually by several renters over the lifetime of the machine. This is why our rentals are so affordable.

8. What if I want only new machines?

Call us and we'll talk to you about purchasing new machines for you. The monthly payment will be $43.24 and the minimum rental period is 1 year. On new sets we require first and last months rent in advance.

9. Do you charge a deposit?

We only charge first and last months rent up front on new machines. On all other rentals, we do not charge a deposit.

10. How long does it take to get a washer and dryer delivered?

Typically we can deliver the next day after the rental agreement is received and processed. At the beginning and end of the month, our busiest times of the month, we sometimes take longer due to the volume of business we are trying to handle.

11. What if a washer or dryer breaks down?

Once you report a breakdown to Clean Rents, we typically have a repair tech on site the next business day. Keep in mind, we are closed on weekends. We typically repair on site, but in some instances, we replace the machine and take the broken unit to our facility for repairs. For normal repairs there is no charge for repair service. In the case of abuse, you may be billed for fair repair charges.

12. I've had dryers in the past that seemed to dry slowly and required me to run the dryer for several cycles to get the load dry. What causes this?

Many times, probably around 90% of the calls we get regarding a dryer that won't dry properly, the problem is in the duct work in the apartment. Usually it has been clogged with either lint or a bird's nest. We will ask you some questions to narrow down the problem. Then we will ask you to have the apartment maintenance crew check the dryer vent pipe for a clog. Since a new renter typically has not had a dryer in their new apartment before renting from us, they automatically assume the problem is within the dryer. Most of the time, it's not. It's in the vent pipe of the apartment. If we send out a repair tech and he finds the trouble is not the dryer, but a clog in the vent pipe, you will be asked to pay for the service call, so make sure to have the vent pipe checked and make sure they really do the check.
